SUPPORTING THE NEEDY
I have supported a number of participants over the years, with items and cash. I'm certainly not a millionaire but I have tried to help riders who needed help.......A helmet, gloves, fairings, tyres, leathers, these are the sort of goods that the lads, and latterly, the lasses appreciate. There is a gap between the sponsored guys and those who race on a shoestring. The people who I personally try to help are mainly friends but I have contributed goods and money to those who I felt would increase their chances by knowing they had a person who believed in them....Sometimes I get racers mentioned on radio and in the press because I feel that following the big names home are a large number of riders who do the TT because they want to.
I take a couple of riders each year and take pleasure in seeing their results at the end of the gruelling two weeks. In exchange for my input the name of my website or current project appears on race fairings and also as an entrant in the TT programme.

My other approach has been to pass on names to people who also want to help. Again we are looking at tyres, leathers and the like.. I was able to set up deals for Liz Skinner and Nick Jefferies for special leathers. Tyres from Pirelli, Helmets from Arai, and help from Oxford Products, Ferodo, Alpinestars, Silkolene and Duke.
